About Karl

Portrait of Karl Salisbury

Karl is an Australian design leader with over 10 years' experience in product and UX at global companies. A natural facilitator and coach, he has spent five years leading design teams and two years partnering with executives while maintaining hands-on involvement in strategic design work. Karl's leadership focuses on collaboration, guiding cross-functional product teams through complex challenges and coaching designers in their professional development. He is also passionate about improving team rituals and processes like structured design critiques, design guidelines and facilitation trainings.

His career began in 2002 with ten years as a graphic designer in the publishing sector before transitioning to front-end development and ultimately specializing in UX. He launched his UX career at Flight Centre in Brisbane in 2014. In 2017, he moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands, to work for Booking.com, where he spent over three years shaping digital experiences for partners. In 2020, he joined Adyen and designed their acclaimed documentation and developer experience. Most recently at TomTom (2022–2025), he led the development of their B2B customer experience, including initiatives such as the TomTom.com redesign, the TomTom Dashboard, customer onboarding, user accounts, login, and payments flow.
